Exeter/London – Rain continues in Britain. And flood threat. The month of September passes through heavy rains. It has started raining in many parts of Britain since last Sunday morning. The Met Office in Exeter said the current rain heralds the arrival of the Atlantic Autumn. Met Office officials said weather conditions that caused widespread disruption and shock across much of Britain in the past 36 hours.
Severe thunderstorms and heavy rains over the weekend made life difficult in some places. Exeter Airport was closed for several hours due to the threat of flooding but has resumed operations today. The Met Office has warned that rain and wind will spread across much of the west of Britain today and tomorrow. The heaviest and most consistent rain is likely over parts of Wales and northwest England. There is a flood threat in these places as the yellow alert has come into effect. Northern England, North West Wales and South Wales will be most affected. David Oliver, deputy chief forecaster at the Met Office, said there was a chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms in Britain on Thursday and Friday. David Oliver added that more thundery showers are forecast later in the week but local impacts should be expected.

According to the Met Office officials, there may be 2 to 4 inches of continuous rain. In some places it can be 5.9 inches to 7.9 inches. The warning is from 6 am today to 6 pm tomorrow. There are also warnings that the arrival of rain will affect many areas of Britain. There are also indications that a continuation of Storm Lee, which lashed North East America and Canada with gusts of 70mph, may hit Britain.
Wind gusts of 45 mph are expected through Thursday. Authorities have advised people to be cautious in areas where yellow alert has been declared. There will be power outages in some places.
