Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The best performers of the session were British Land Company PLC (LON:), which rose 3.11% or 11.70 points to trade at 387.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:) added 2.63% (7.60 points) to end at 296.90 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:) added 2.25% (16.80 points) to 765.20 in late trade.

The weakest performing stock on the market was Glencore PLC (LON:), which fell 3.96% (18.10 points) to close at 439.30. British Centrica Group (LON:) fell 3.81% (LON:) to end at 143.75; Tui AG (LON:) fell 2.96% (18.50 points) to quote 606.00.

854 stocks rose on the London Stock Exchange, which outnumbered the number of stocks closing down – 786. At the same time, 484 stocks did not rise or fall, which was basically the same.

Rolls-Royce Holdings plc (LON: ) shares rose to three-year highs; up 2.63% or 7.60 points to 296.90.

The price of the February options contract on gold futures fell 0.84% ​​(16.90 points) to $1,997.60. For the rest of the futures, the price of WTI crude oil futures contract for January delivery fell by 0.25% (0.18 points), quoted at US$71.05, while the February London Brent crude oil futures contract fell by 0.12% (0.09), trading at US$75.75.

GBP/USD did not rise or fall by 0.06%, with an exchange rate of 1.26; at the same time, EUR/GBP was basically unchanged at 0.21%, with a quote of 0.86.

U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.15% to trade at 103.79.
