A 72-year-old woman was attacked and killed by a dog on Friday in Bedworth, near Coventry in central England. Two people, the owners of the animal, were arrested and the dog belonging to a prohibited breed was seized, police said. “This is a tragic incident and an in-depth investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances.”said a police spokesman.
Incidents involving dogs are high in the UK. A 7-year-old child and two men were bitten by a dog as recently as Wednesday. Since the November 2021 death of a 10-year-old child, 15 people have been killed by dogs, according to news agency PA Media. And last year, some 22,000 people were reportedly injured by man’s best friend.
