UK authorities will begin to regulate the actions of Netflix, Disney + and other online cinemas | News

Streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ in the UK will be regulated in the same way as regular TV channels. The initiative was announced by the authorities of the country.

After adopting the rules, online movie theaters may be required to moderate content that may be harmful or offensive. This will be monitored by the British agency Ofcom, which regulates the work of television and radio services, as well as mail. In addition, the agency will ensure that the services provide truthful information and prevent leakage of user data.

For violation of the rules, the regulator can impose a fine in the amount of 250 thousand pounds (~ ₽22 million) up to 5% of the revenue of the online cinema. Streaming service Netflix has already expressed support for the initiative.
