To test Ugreen’s 12-in-1 dock, we connected two 4K displays, a Crucial X8 external SSD, a Logitech Unify dongle, an Ethernet cable, and an SD card capable of up to 250 MB/s.
On the front USB and USB-C ports compatible with 10 Gb/s, our SSD reached an average of 965 MB/s reading and writing, which is relatively close to the maximum speed of this interface (1050 MB/s). Using the 5Gbps USB ports on the rear allows us to reach 467MB/s with our SSD. Once once more, the expected flow rates are present.
The Ethernet port allows you to reach 110 MB/s, more or less the maximum speed of the Gigabit standard with a few MB/s less.
Finally, the card reader announced at 104 MB/s peaks at 90 MB/s reading and writing on our card, capable of reaching 250 MB/s.
Connecting to our 4K 120 Hz television will have allowed us a maximum definition of 4K at 60 Hz on the two HDMI ports. On our MacBook Air M1, we were able to connect three external screens with a minimum definition of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
We also evaluated the quality of the headphone output by applying the same protocol as for the jack output of laptop PCs. The Ugreen dock’s jack output has no reason to be ashamed of its performance. All of its features are average for laptops. However, the output level will not be sufficient to properly handle high impedance headphones.
