To offer more security and convenience to customers, Nubank announces a new feature: the temporary virtual card. With this resource, users will be able to create virtual cards that automatically expire after 24 hours of use, reducing the risk of cloning and fraud in online purchases. As of August 7, 2023, Nubank customers will be able to create temporary virtual cards directly through the application. these cards will be valid for only 24 hours and will expire automatically after that period, being no longer usable. The permanent virtual card option will also be available, allowing use on frequently used websites and applications, such as digital wallets, subscriptions and streaming, delivery or transport services.
How to generate the temporary virtual card:
Access the Nubank application and go to the home screen. Tap “My Cards”. Then select the option “Create temporary virtual card”. Enter your 4-digit password to confirm card creation. To view your card details, click on “View Card Details” and re-enter your password.
Usage and validity:
Once generated, the temporary virtual card will be ready for immediate use. During the next 24 hours, the customer can make as many purchases as he wants with this card, and it can be used in several online establishments. It is important to note that only one temporary virtual card can be active at a time.
After the 24 hour period, the card will be automatically deleted and the customer will receive a notification that the card is no longer available for use. On the “My cards” page, you can check the remaining time until the card is erased.
History and transactions:
To consult the history of transactions made with temporary cards, simply access the “Credit Card” area in the application. If it is necessary to request a reversal, split purchases or report an operation, the customer can easily do so by clicking on the purchase in question and following the instructions provided.
Usage recommendations:
Despite the practicality of the temporary virtual card, Nubank recommends that customers do not use it to purchase tickets for concerts, football matches or similar events, as, in some situations, it may be necessary to present the physical card at the time of the event.
