UEMOA Extraordinary Summit: Socio-Economic Situation in West Africa

Dakar, Feb 23 (APS) – An extraordinary summit of heads of state and government of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), devoted to the socio-economic situation, will be held on Saturday in Abuja, Nigeria we learned on Friday from an official source.

”An extraordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) will be held this Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria. It will be devoted, in particular, to the socio-economic situation in the Union,” indicates a press release received by the APS.

This meeting will take place following the extraordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which is being held on the same day in the Nigerian capital .

The ECOWAS summit will be devoted to the political and security situation in the community space following the withdrawal of the organization from Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.

Founded in 1994, UEMOA, which has eight member countries, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. It works to achieve the economic integration of its member states.
