NYON, Switzerland (AP) — UEFA has removed Juventus from all European competitions due to allegations of false accounting that had already ruled the Italian club out of Champions League qualification.
Juventus lost their place in the Europa Conference League, the third-tier tournament in Europe. His place should go to Fiorentina for the wild card round that begins on August 24.
On Friday UEFA indicated that the team will also have to pay a fine of 10 million euros (11 million dollars) for breaking the rules of financial Fair Play. They might also be stripped of another 10 million euros if the club fails to comply with UEFA’s financial monitoring rules in subsequent campaigns.
The punishment to Juve from UEFA was expected since last season because Serie A took 10 points from him.
UEFA said that financial investigators determined that Juventus violated settlement agreements with the club last year.
In another case, Chelsea will have to pay 10 million euros ($11 million) to UEFA for giving incorrect information between 2012 and 2019, when the club belonged to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
