UEFA Player of the Year: Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid) and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) finalists

We know the three men who will compete for the title of UEFA player of the year. The European institution announced its trio of finalists on Friday. Two of them play for Real Madrid, winner of the Champions League last spring: Karim Benzema and Thibaut Courtois. Kevin de Bruyne, one of the great architects of the coronation of Manchester City in the Premier League, completes this triplet of contenders for the reward which will be awarded on August 25th.

There are really no surprises. Karim Benzema was unmissable after finishing top scorer in La Liga with 27 goals and in the Champions League with 15. He is the strong man of the White House. The title of best coach of the year will be awarded on the same occasion. UEFA also revealed its three finalists: the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, champion of Europe and Spain with Real Madrid, the Spaniard Josep Guardiola, champion of England and semi-finalist of the Champions League with Manchester City, and the German Jürgen Klopp, vice-champion of England and finalist of the Champions League with Liverpool. Oliver Glasner (Eintracht Frankfurt), Unai Emery (Villarreal) and José Mourinho (AS Roma) finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.
