And according to the British newspaper, “The Times”, Thursday, the European Football Association “UEFA” project to add 8 more teams to the “Euro 2028” tournament failed in its infancy, following this idea was put forward last March.
The real reason for not agreeing to increase the number of teams is because this decision will harm the qualifying qualifiers for the continental championship, make them less interested and competitive, and thus reduce the profits of the financial resources of the European Football Association.
In the event that this decision is approved, 55 teams will compete for the 32 qualifying seats for the competition, meaning that more than half of the teams participating in the qualifiers will easily qualify for the continental competition.
It is expected that UEFA will announce its final decision in November regarding the competitions of this tournament, which Britain and Ireland are close to hosting and overcoming the Turkish file, while Germany will organize the Euro 2024 competitions.
