The Secretary General of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) criticized the decision taken last Sunday by the Democratic Convention of the Party (CDP), ejecting him from his post. During a talk on Monday at the party headquarters, Augustin Kabuya did not put aside the option of challenging this decision in court.
For him, the conclusions of the extraordinary session of the CDP are “theatre” and “nothing serious”.
“Just looking at the faces I saw on television, it’s night and day. There was nothing serious. These people had gone rather to do their theater. And I ask you not to recognize them. It is neither statutory nor legal. It is a shame for the party. You cannot follow such nonsense to humiliate the fight of Étienne Tshisekedi. If this decision must be challenged in court, I will do it,” declared Augustin Kabuya.
The one who still recognizes himself as secretary general of the UDPS cries out against the violation of the texts of this political formation of the late Étienne Tshisekedi.
“I am one of the authors of the UDPS statute. Article 30 of our statute designates the components that make up the Democratic Convention. This is not the mercenary work that you have seen. The first component is made up of national deputies and senators elected on the party list. We have at least one hundred and fifty deputies. I must show you, in black and white, how our brothers have brought shame. There are also ministers and representatives, who are in the second component. If we take them together, that can bring us to ninety-five people. And if we take the deputies and senators that we have, plus the ministers and representatives, that gives us two hundred and twenty-eight. There is also the third component, which is the party presidency, the presidents of the federal committees, overall, that makes five hundred and ninety-three people,” he stressed.
It should be noted that for over a month, a leadership crisis has been raging within the UDPS. Last Sunday, during its extraordinary session, the CDP even sanctioned Augustin Kabuya by relieving him of his duties. He is replaced, according to this party structure, by Déo Bizibu Balola who was until SGA in charge of political and administrative matters.
