Udine armored for Italy-Israel. And the pro-Hamas slogans appear –

Udine is armored. Tonight, from 8.45pm, the Nations League match between Italy and Israel will be played. In the afternoon, however, a pro-Palestine procession will unfold from Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza XX Settembre. Tickets sold for the race at the Blueenergy Stadium are 11,700 with a capacity of 25 thousand, while thousands of people are expected at the event, starting at 5pm. These are numbers that have made widespread checks necessary in the city. The two events, according to what we learn, will not have connection points: in the Friulian capital, barriers have been set up that will prevent people from reaching the sports facility. In the meantime, however, the first pro-Hamas writings are starting to appear. “Municipality of Udine complicit in the Palestinian genocide #banisrael #nopatrocinio”: this is what we read in via Nicolò Lionello, right in front of Palazzo D’Aronco, the seat of the Municipality.

A similar writing, but in red paint, was also found after the night on the external wall of the headquarters of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in via Sabbadini. It is therefore possible that they were created by the same group of people, who thus wanted to make known their dissent to the patronage granted by the mayor Alberto Felice De Toni to the Nation League match and to show opposition to the recognitions granted by the president of the Friuli Venezia Region Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga at the sporting event. This episode is part of a now consolidated climate of anti-Semitic hatred and for which a permanent state of alert is necessary. Suffice it to say that in Udine, already on Sunday afternoon, with the arrival of the two teams in Friuli, the red zone was activated around the Bluenergy Stadium and near the two hotels that hosted the players. To reach the structure reserved for Israelis, in fact, you have to go past a sort of bunker set up by the police.
