UdeM Open House: a successful winter edition!

More than 400 members of the teaching and student communities, the dean’s office and various units of the Université de Montréal met on January 29 to host the establishment’s emblematic winter open days, which welcomed 2,200 visitors and which took place in a shorter format than in previous years.

UdeM shone on its mountain campus, carpeted in white. Its people, its facilities, its services and its more than 650 programs of study were in the spotlight. At the stroke of 10 a.m., on the three floors of pavilion 3200, rue Jean-Brillant, a festive musical atmosphere reigned thanks to CISM 89.3.

The excitement and effervescence were the key words of the day. Visitors were able to visit more than 100 kiosks to discover what UdeM has to offer. All areas of knowledge and study cycles were represented, which set the tone for passionate and varied exchanges.

“Each year, we are proud to reconnect with this winter tradition and meet future students in a formula that is both effective and innovative on our main campus. We would like to thank everyone involved, without whom this event would not be the welcoming annual event that it is,” said Michèle Glemaud, Director General of the University’s Admissions and Recruitment Service.

A varied program

The seven conferences offering an overview of the student experience and the admissions process rallied more than 325 people. Staff members were able to pass on their knowledge and tips on topics such as student exchanges and financial resources to future cohorts. Each conference ended with a question period rich in information and practical advice.

Help with applying for admission and individual consultations have also been very successful. On the eve of the admission deadlines for the fall 2023 term, the personalized support offered by the admissions teams has proven invaluable to many candidates. It allowed them to refine their choice of program, to understand the specificities of an application for admission and to anticipate the steps to come.

Visitors also had the opportunity to crisscross the campus to visit certain units, including student residences and the Faculty of Nursing as well as the MIL campus.

An event beyond the face-to-face

More than a sporadic event, the open house was part of a wide program of activities, including several in virtual mode. They all allowed future students to discover UdeM, familiarize themselves with the admissions process and explore study programs. Thousands of users have browsed the microsite devoted to this program and nearly 3,500 people registered for the activities. A true culmination of the program, the open houses were, for those who wanted to learn more, the opportunity to come and exchange in the flesh with the UdeM teams and to obtain some additional information from activities offered in digital format.

A contest worth the detour!

The competition Earn your admission fees to UdeM helped fuel the enthusiasm for the open house. More than 3000 people took part! By marking their presence at the open house and submitting an application for admission for the fall 2023 term within the applicable deadlines, candidates stood the chance of having their admission fees reimbursed. The open house is now over, it is no longer possible to register, but the contest will make eight lucky winners. The University will contact them in the weeks following the deadlines for submitting admission applications.
