Pattappakal brutally killed Kanaya Lal, a tailor. The two-member mob copied the footage and circulated it on social media. Rafiq Mohammad and Abdul Jabbar were arrested, police said.
The killers came to the shop on the pretext of sewing clothes. Kanaya Lal was then hacked to death. Murder scenes were recorded on mobile phones and circulated on social media. The attackers also threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Police arrested the attackers from Rajsamand district during a search operation. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also tweeted that the two attackers had been arrested.
Calling for maintaining peace and brotherhood, Gehlot asked why the Prime Minister and Amit Shah did not respond to the unrest in the country. Internet services in Udaipur district have been suspended for 24 hours due to possible clashes. The ban was announced within seven police stations. Leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Sitaram Yatchury, condemned the assassination. The BJP alleges that the murder was the fault of the state government.
