Junior Ayo Oke becomes the latest Bruin to earn Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors, UCLA’s sixth selection in the last seven weeks.
Oke, who is in her first year in Westwood following spending the last two seasons at California, helped UCLA secure its 14th Pac-12 title following a 2-0 win over Cal and a 1-1 tie once morest Stanford. Oke scored or assisted on every goal on the weekend, scoring the game-winner once morest Cal and assisting on the other two Bruin goals while leading the Bruins to their 11th shutout of the year. Oke’s goal once morest Cal was her first as a Bruin and came once morest her former team. Defensively, she also helped limit the Bears to just one shot on goal and seven shots total, while Stanford was only able to record three shots on goal and nine shots total.
This is UCLA’s 10th Pac-12 Player of the Week award in 2023, the most of any school in the conference.
