Ubisoft sued for closing a game loved by fans

Hey man, do you see what’s happening with Ubisoft right now? A mega-revered fan has announced that he is going to sue the video game giant. And you know why ? Because Ubisoft simply canceled one of its favorite games, and that doesn’t work!

I already told you about this sad news in December 2023, when Ubisoft completely deleted the famous game The Crew from Steam for good. Fans have had a few weeks to digest the pill, but clearly, some are ready to fight to assert their rights.

YouTuber Ross Scott, aka Accursed Farms, even wants to launch a class action lawsuit against Ubisoft. For him, the box sold The Crew by promising a “perpetual license”, but in the end, players didn’t get what they were supposed to get at all.

“I think the point to make is that The Crew was sold with a perpetual license, not a subscription, so we were sold a good, not a service,” explains Scott. And yeah, he wants to see Ubisoft held accountable and prevent other games from suffering the same fate.

It’s quite a gamble on Scott’s part, but hey, we’re waiting to see if he manages to gather enough evidence for the justice system to take his case seriously. In any case, he is determined not to give up, even if Ubisoft tried to buy it with an out-of-court settlement.

Personally, I fully support Scott’s approach. We cannot let publishers destroy games that players care about and have spent their money on. Come on Scott, throw a critical hit at Ubisoft for a good cause!
