Bad news for fans of Immortals: Fenyx Rising, according to VGC, Ubisoft canceled development on its sequel last month.

If it received a rather mixed reception from critics, Ubisoft nevertheless saw in it enormous potential: that of a new license which could one day become a franchise in its own right. The French publisher is betting more than ever on its biggest licenses to return to the green: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and The Crew are all series that have managed to impose themselves on gamers. Others have more difficulty, like Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six…

For several years, Ubisoft has been looking to develop new licenses. Immortals was one of the most promising titles. According to a new report from VGC, however, the publisher has decided to cancel the development of its sequel, which was being designed at Ubisoft Quebec.

In January, the publisher had already announced the cancellation of three projects that had not yet been unveiled. The sequel to Immortals would not be part of this first selection of projects shelved. Ubisoft, however, has not yet commented on the information.
