Ubisoft announces Beyond Good & Evil remaster

Information regarding this new version has been leaking everywhere for a few days, so Ubisoft decided to officially announce the upcoming arrival of a remastered version of Beyond Good & Evil.

While information around Beyond Good & Evil 2 is scarce, Ubisoft is preparing to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the original episode. Originally released in 2003 on Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube and PC, the creation of Ubisoft Montpellier remains remembered despite sales well below what the publisher expected at the time. If the title had already been re-released in 2011, it seems that Ubisoft is hard at work on a new, more elaborate remaster.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition should allow us to rediscover this gem from Ubisoft in 4K and 60fps on compatible consoles. Revised handling, improved sound and all-new auto-save and cross-save functions are also on the program. The remaster will also offer some original content since the Microsoft store page discusses new rewards and a new treasure hunt which should teach us more regarding Jade’s past. Finally, an anniversary gallery and a speedrun mode should appeal to fans of the original game.

The announcement was made in a hurry due to numerous leaks appearing in recent days. The title’s achievements appeared on the Exophase site, as did the full page of the game put online on the Microsoft Store by mistake before being removed. Even more serious, several subscribers to the Ubisoft+ service were able to try the game on Xbox, the title having also been made available to the public by mistake.

Videos and screenshots briefly surfaced on the web, revealing a technically disappointing version of Beyond Good & Evil. The official X account of the license wants to be reassuring by affirming that the leaked game is an earlier development version and that it will not reflect the quality of the finished product. This new version will not be released in time to celebrate its anniversary since it is scheduled for early 2024 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
