Negotiations » In Geneva, the very complex Uber file is progressing, but there are still many points to be settled. The multinational has given financial guarantees that allow negotiations to be opened. Pending the outcome of these discussions, Uber can continue its activity.
“We have found satisfactory common ground which makes it possible to unblock the file,” Fabienne Fischer, head of the Department of the Economy and Employment (DEE), told the press yesterday. The State Councilor immediately notes that there are still many unanswered questions.
According Fabienne Fischer, Uber has made commitments and filed “solid guarantees”. The multinational has undertaken to pay by the end of August to a notary in Geneva an amount of 5 million francs. The sum will be blocked as a guarantee for the arrears of wages or the expenses due to the drivers.
Uber will also grant a bonus of 930,000 francs to some 800 drivers who have been active on the Uber platform in the past six months. Each driver will receive by the end of August a net amount which will depend on his past activity. ATS
