A Uber announced this week the expanding its cooperation program with public safety bodies to expedite responses to potential emergencies during races. The initiative has now reached the state of Amazonasin the North region of Brazil.
The company signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Secretariat of Public Security of Amazonas (SSP-AM) which provides for the integration of the application’s “Call the Police” button with the state’s Integrated Security Operations Center (Ciops).
It is worth noting that Ciops do Amazonas brings together institutions involved in responding to emergencies in the area of public safety and the defense of citizenship in the same location, via the 190 telephone number, according to the SSP-AM.
According to Uber, this initiative, a pioneer in the North of the country, uses the location signals available on cell phones and used in app navigation to determine the positioning of devices in a much more accurate way.
