KOMANG Ayu Cahya Dewi, Indonesian women’s singles, managed to close the 2024 Uber Cup group stage match once morest Japan with a win, reducing the deficit to 2-3.
At the Chengdu Hi Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, Chengdu, China, Komang Ayu beat Tomoka Miyazaki from Japan with a rubber game score of 21-12, 14-21, 21-13 in 57 minutes.
“It’s nice to see the improvement in performance today. Even though we were only runners-up in the group, we have tried hard,” said Komang Ayu to the media following the match.
The first game went smoothly for Komang who is ranked 56th in the world. He appeared confident by attacking quickly, making it difficult for Miyazaki to keep up with his attacks.
Miyazaki struggled to find the right pattern of play, but Komang managed to close the first game easily, 21-12.
However, Miyazaki recovered in the second game with aggressive attacks, leaving Komang behind several times. Miyazaki won the second game 21-14.

Komang admitted that he had difficulty adapting to changes in field conditions at the start of the second game. However, he was able to return to his best playing form in the third game.
Komang was ahead with 18-13 before finally winning with 21-13.
Japan won Group C of the 2024 Uber Cup, while Indonesia was runner-up. Both teams are ready to advance to the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian men’s team will compete in the final group qualifying round for the 2024 Thomas Cup once morest India, with Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo playing in the singles sector, as well as Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Martin in the doubles sector.
