UASLP School of Medicine will celebrate its 146th anniversary – El Sol de San Luis

With the participation of successful graduates and within the framework of the Centennial of UASLP Autonomy, the Faculty of Medicine will celebrate its 146th anniversary on March 3, 2023 with the “Vanguard Medicine” Symposium, in which Current and current health issues.

Dr. Ismael Francisco Herrera Benavente, director of the Faculty, said that the main objective of the Symposium, in addition to celebrating another anniversary of the academic entity, is to leave an impact among the medical community.

He informed that among the speakers who will be present at the Symposium, the following stand out: Dr. Guillermo Ruiz Argüelles, doctorate Honoris Causa from the UASLP; doctor José Sifuentes Osornio, director of the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition “Salvador Zubirán”; doctor Miguel Ángel Mercado Díaz, president of the National Academy of Surgery. All of them graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Institution.

In the same way, Dr. Maribel Martínez Díaz, general secretary of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr. Adriana Elizabeth Monsiváis, secretary of the CICSAB of the UASLP; doctor Pedro Torres González, and doctor Ismael Francisco Herrera Benavente himself, director of the Faculty of Medicine.

On the topics to be developed during this Symposium, Dr. Herrera Benavente explained that aspects such as “Impact of Immunology on Medicine”, “What is the legacy of vaccines?”, “2023, does tuberculosis still exist” will be addressed. , “Research in hematology in Mexico”, “Reproductive health, is it an essential topic in medical education?”, as well as “Reflections on 1000 reconstructions of the bile ducts”, and “Covid 19 experiences at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition”.

Finally, Dr. Ismael Herrera said that this event is completely free and open to the entire medical community of San Luis Potosí. The inauguration will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023 in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
