UAEU Introduces 104 Research Projects Initiated by Students – Emirates News Agency

On Monday, March 27, 2023 at 6:38 PM, the United Arab Emirates University announced the funding of 104 research projects for the second session of the Sustainable Development Goals Research Program – SDGs. These projects involve 468 students from various colleges, and are aimed at promoting awareness regarding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) amongst university students and society, in order to find sustainable solutions to world issues and challenges. This will enhance research capabilities amongst students, making them active members of their society. Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Vice-Deputy for Scientific Research at UAEU, stated that the university is keen on enhancing their participation and interaction with the community by promoting initiatives for SDG research projects. The projects focus on four different goals of sustainable development: Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Life in Righteousness. The 104 research projects include 32 projects related to “life on land”, 25 for “quality education”, 28 for “clean water and sanitation”, 11 for “decent work and economic growth”, and 8 for common goals. Recently, the UAE University established an infrastructure to achieve a balance between economic and social development while ensuring environmental sustainability. Al Ain, March 27, WAM / The United Arab Emirates University announced the funding of 104 research projects with the participation of 468 students from various colleges within the second session of the “Sustainable Development Goals Research Program – SDGs”, which was launched by the University Research Office.

The program aims to raise awareness regarding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals “UN-SDGs” among university students and society, as well as finding comprehensive and sustainable solutions to world problems and challenges by improving students’ research capabilities so that they become active members of their society. Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Vice-Deputy for Scientific Research at UAEU, affirmed the university’s keenness to enhance its participation and interaction with the community by promoting initiatives to establish research projects concerned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He said that the remarkable success of the first cycle of the program led to the launch of the second cycle, which focused on four different goals of sustainable development, namely Goal Four: Quality Education, Goal Six: Clean Water and Sanitation, Goal Eight: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Goal Five Ten: Life in righteousness.

Dr. Ahmed Murad explained that the 104 research projects included 32 research projects that support the fifteenth goal of sustainable development goals related to “life on land”, in addition to that 25 research projects have been funded that support the fourth goal related to “quality education”..and also 28 research projects have been funded that support the sixth goal, which is “clean water and sanitation,” and 11 other projects support the eighth goal, which is concerned with “decent work and economic growth,” and 8 other projects support common goals.

It is noteworthy that the UAE University has recently established an integrated infrastructure to achieve a balance between economic and social development while ensuring environmental sustainability.
