The UAE Team concluded the year 2023 by obtaining first place in the International Cycling Union World Tour classification, and the team took the lead, confirming its worth in the upper echelons of professional cycling.
The achievement was announced at a press conference at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in the presence of Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni, President of the Emirates Team, Mauro Gianetti, Executive Director of the team, Tadej Bogacher, world number one, Joao Almeida, Adam Yates, Felix Grosschartner, and a number of sports leaders.
The distinguished victory is evidence of the UAE Team’s constant dedication and exceptional talent, as it recorded 57 wins in the 2023 season, and has continuously demonstrated its strength and prowess on the global stage of cycling, as the team collected these victories from a wide range of competitions, starting from classic one-day races, to Exhausting Grand Tour races, and 17 different riders from the team achieved victories, which indicates the strength of the team.
The team’s success is embodied in the exceptional performance presented by Tadi Bogačer, as he finished the season as the best cyclist in the world, as the 25-year-old Slovenian cyclist wrote his name in the annals of cycling history, thanks to his amazing performance this season, and consolidated his place as one of the brightest stars in the sport, following his victory. In the two historic races, Ronde van Vlaanderen and Il Lombardia, as well as other prestigious races.
UAE Team riders also shined in the top positions in the individual rider classifications, with Bogačer taking first place, Adam Yates in eighth place, Joao Almeida in tenth place, and Mark Hirschi in twelfth place.
