UAE National Breast Cancer Awareness; 13,000 free cancer screenings conducted this year

ABU DHABI: The UAE conducted 13,000 free cancer screenings during this year’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Program. The seven-day breast cancer awareness program was started on February 4. ‘Empowered by you’, is the theme of this year’s National Breast Cancer Programme. The Pink Caravan Ride, the UAE’s breast cancer awareness program, started in Sharjah this time.

This year’s UAE breast cancer awareness program achieved a record 13,000 cancer screenings. The 13,000 recorded exceeded the UAE’s target of 11,000 tests this year. This is the highest screening rate since the National Breast Cancer Awareness Program was launched in 2011. About 30 breast cancer screening centers were organized as part of the awareness program. The UAE’s Pink Caravan Ride offers free breast cancer screening for both men and women nationally.

Volunteers spent 59,830 hours working on breast cancer awareness programs. Sheikh Mohammed bin Nahyan bin Mubarak, chairman of Dabi Holding, pointed out that the medical service team worked for 22 days and 11,880 hours for the pink caravan ride. Dabi Holding Chairman honored the sponsors and partners who came forward with a helping hand for the PCR program.
