Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The UAE Ministry of Interior announced, on Friday, that 6 deaths were found as a result of the torrential rains in the emirates of Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Fujairah.
Brigadier General Dr. Ali Salem Al Tunaiji, Director General of Central Federal Operations at the UAE Ministry of Interior, said in a video clip on the latest field developments in light of the prevailing weather conditions, that efforts are continuing in the process of restoring normal life to areas affected by the torrential rains that hit some emirates during The last period, which is: Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Fujairah.
He added that “field units are still carrying out evictions in some of these areas, and there are shelters for some individuals whose homes were subjected to torrential rains,” announcing the return of “approximately 80% of individuals whose homes were subjected to floods and flooded during the past days.”
He continued, “We regret to announce that 6 people of Asian nationality were found dead as a result of the floods that took place in these Emirates, and the search for another person of Asian nationality is still underway in some of the regions affiliated with these Emirates.”
He stressed that “the efforts are still continuing, and the teams are still performing their duties, and these authorities are able during the coming period to reach the stage of recovery and for life to return to normal.” He added, “There are some roads that have been opened between the affected areas of the emirates, and there is only a main road linking the Emirate of Fujairah and the city of Khor Fakkan, and work is underway to be opened within a short period of time.”
