On the ninth of May every year, the UAE celebrates the UAE Medical Day. It is a national occasion to celebrate the health care cadres in the country, who prove day following day their essential role in the health and wellness of the country’s society, and in enhancing its security and economic stability.
In light of the support of the wise leadership and its belief in the importance of the sons and daughters of the nation, and its absolute keenness to support and empower them in various vital sectors, including the health care sector, the presence of Emirati citizens in this sector has become clear, and their achievements are outstanding and creative.
Where many citizens of the country occupy various leadership and professional positions, starting with senior administrations, all the way to healthcare cadres, doctors, laboratory technicians, imaging and diagnostics specialists, and much more.
From this standpoint, and on the occasion of UAE Medical Day, local doctors talked regarding their professional experiences in the sector, and the support and empowerment provided by the wise leadership to reach the positions they occupy today.
Dr. Moza Al Sharhan, President of the Emirates Medical Association, said: The Emirates Medical Day is a special day to appreciate the efforts made by workers in the medical and health sector in the country. The day aims to highlight the vital role played by the health sector in improving the quality of life in the UAE community.
For his part, Dr. Humaid bin Harmal Al Shamsi, Rapporteur of the Gulf Society of Oncology, indicated that the Emirates Medical Day is an opportunity to highlight the important achievements made by the health services sector, and to strengthen its position as one of the most important vital sectors related to human life and happiness.
He added: The UAE Medical Day emphasizes the vital role played by the health sector in preserving the security, safety and health of society, by providing high-quality health services in accordance with the highest international standards, which helps to enhance the quality of life and achieve a pioneering healthy society.
Dr Farhana Bin Lootah, Consultant Internal Medicine Specialist in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Imperial College London Diabetes Center, said: “It is great that we have good technical skills, but I would like to give valuable advice to the competencies of the healthcare sector, which is to look at the ultimate goal within this profession.” Noble, focus on new things that give back to the community.
Directing the focus towards the most important goals and following the example of more experienced and knowledgeable people helps in acquiring new skills that enable everyone in the healthcare sector to make the desired difference in society, coinciding with a fruitful career path that benefits all patients.
Youth empowerment
For her part, Maryam Al Dhaheri, Senior Technical Officer in Medical Laboratories at the National Reference Laboratory, said: “Emirates Medical Day is an annual occasion to celebrate the efforts made by national healthcare providers in the UAE. It is also a valuable opportunity to show appreciation and gratitude for the UAE’s dedication to empowering youth in one of the most important sectors in the country.
In his turn, Dr. Aref Al-Nouriani, Executive Director of Al Qasimi Hospital and Head of the Cardiac Surgery and Catheterization Center, said: We are proud of the national achievements that have been made in the medical field over the past 5 decades, as the UAE has become medically advanced, and the most developed countries are racing in the field of providing better health services.
In addition to the introduction of innovative medical devices, thanks to the direct support of the wise leadership of the state for the health sector, which is concerned with the medical and technical staff.
And that is by sending Emirati students to obtain the best scientific degrees, and then returning to their homeland in order to apply these sciences on the ground, which has enhanced the performance of the health sector in the country, as Emirati doctors have acquired high expertise and skills that enable them to perform delicate operations.
Honoring
For his part, Dr. Abdul Qadir Al Zarouni, President of the Emirates Urology Association, confirmed that the UAE Medical Day is a day to honor the medical, technical and administrative staff of the health sector workers in the country, citizens and residents.
Pointing out that the wise leadership of the state spares no effort in supporting the health system in the country at all levels, from qualifying the medical staff and providing the best equipment and hospitals in all specialties without exception, which made it possible to provide the best medical services to all citizens and residents on its land without exception or discrimination.
