UAE indigenization a huge success; 28,700 Emiratis have taken jobs at private companies as part of Nafis program in the first year.

Dubai: The Emiratization project implemented by the UAE Ministry of Social Development and Indigenization with the aim of strengthening the representation of natives in private companies in the country has been a huge success. In the first year of the project, 28,700 indigenous women and men have been employed in various private companies, officials said. UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum specially congratulated the officials who led the implementation of the project.

The two leaders said the Emirati Talent Competitive Council or Nafees program, which spearheaded the indigenization project, has been a huge success. Sheikh Mansoor also commented that the Nafiz project has met with success beyond expectations. Within the first year of the project, the presence of Swadeshi in the private sector in the country was increased by 70 percent. He also informed that more than 50,000 UAE nationals are currently working in the private sector.

Companies that violated the law were fined Dh400 million

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mansoor announced that action has been taken once morest the institutions that failed to achieve the Emiratization targets before January 1, 2023. Earlier, the ministry had directed that companies with more than 50 employees should hire natives in two percent of their workforce by January 1, 2023. Establishments in free zones are exempted from this. The provision stipulates that companies that fail to meet the time limit must pay a fine of Dh72,000 per year at a rate of Dh6,000 per month for each expatriate to be employed. Employers must increase the indigenization rate to four percent of total workforce by January 1, 2024. The authorities have also proposed to increase it to 10 percent by the end of 2026.

False naturalization; 227 cases were detected

Meanwhile, the Emirati Talent Competitive Council also reported 227 incidents of fake job offers to make it appear that the repatriation target was met before 2023.
