UAE Team Emirates won the 3rd stage of Paris-Nice, a team time trial around Auxerre. The American Brandon McNulty takes the yellow jersey.

A hilly loop of 26.9 kilometers around Auxerre: this was the program for the team time trial this Tuesday. One of the key stages of this Paris-Nice 2024 version. For the runners, there is no question of stopping to buy wine in the Icaunaise city, since the expected speeds were more than 50km/h on this route.

Expected among the favorites with Almeida, McNulty, Soler and Politt in its ranks, the UAE Team Emirates did not disappoint. Even without Tadej Pogacar, the men in white were able to hit hard and make an impression by setting the best time in Auxerre. UAE is ahead of real exercise specialists: Jayco-AlUla, by 15 seconds, and EF by 20 seconds.

Primoz Roglic big winner of the day

With Remco Evenepoel at the top of the bill, Soudal-Quick Step was the favorite… but did not even appear on the podium. The world time trial champion and his partners concede 22 seconds to the UAE team. But the Belgian can still smile, since he takes 32 seconds from his great rival Primoz Roglic, whose Bora-Hansgrohe team missed out on Tuesday.

On the French side, David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) concedes 1’02” to the UAE Team Emirates. The Frenchman is therefore one of the big losers of the day… and will undoubtedly have to go on the attack in the coming days to correct the situation.
