UAE declares short Eid holiday, pravasi

Abu Dhabi: Short festive holiday announced for government and private sectors in UAE.

The Human Resource Indigenization Ministry and the Federal Authority for Government Human Resource Officers informed that there will be a holiday from 20th to 23rd (Ramzan 29th to Shawwal 3rd).

In most Islamic countries, Eid is expected to be on Friday. Up to five days of leave is expected depending on the appearance of the crescent moon. UAE to officially confirm public holidays The lunar observation committee will meet.

Employees of the private sector in the country will also be on leave with pay.

UAE to provide equal official holidays to government and private sector employees This is as per the decision of the Cabinet. The first day of the month of Shawwal in the Hijri calendar is celebrated as a minor festival. The holy month started in the UAE on 23rd of last month.

An Islamic month is usually 29 or 30 days long, depending on the appearance of the crescent moon. Astronomers are of the opinion that this year Ramzan will be 29 days long.

A short Eid holiday has also been announced in Oman. There will be a short festive holiday for the public and private sectors during the five days from Thursday to Monday.
