UAE Amnesty Scheme: A Vital Opportunity for Pakistanis to Legalize Their Status
On the amnesty scheme launched by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for foreigners to legalize their status, officials emphasize that Pakistanis living there should benefit from the scheme as much as possible.
The Pakistani missions in the UAE have shown their full support for this initiative.
The Government of the United Arab Emirates has introduced an amnesty scheme from September 1 to October 31, 2024. In response, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai are providing necessary assistance to ensure that Pakistani nationals in the UAE can take full advantage of this opportunity.
To facilitate the process, Pakistani embassies and consulates will remain open on Saturdays until the end of October 2024. This will allow applicants to renew, update, or verify their documents. Consular services will include the renewal or issuance of national identity cards, passports, and authentication services. Additionally, the Outpass Section will issue outpass or emergency travel documents for Pakistani nationals without passports to facilitate their return to Pakistan.
“The Embassy and Consulate General of Pakistan are fully committed to supporting the Pakistani community during this period,” the missions underscored in their statement.
Pakistanis form the second largest community in the UAE, following Indians, with approximately 1.7 million Pakistanis residing there. In 2023 alone, over 230,000 Pakistanis arrived in the UAE seeking better job prospects and life opportunities.
