Abu Dhabi – The Ministry of Manpower Indigenization has taken strict action once morest company owners who do not report workplace accidents in the UAE on time.
A uniform number for reporting accidents has also been released in the new guidelines, which have been issued to engage workers and remind them of the responsibilities of company owners. The company should report the accident. The law is beneficial to both workers and employers.
How to notify
Reports can be made by calling 600 590000, through smart application or by visiting customer centers in person.
Information to be provided
Details of the injured employee, nature of accident, place, time, severity, information on first aid given, treatment and company name should be provided. The report of the medical committee should be submitted within 10 days.
Surveillance will be strengthened
Companies with more than 50 employees will conduct lightning checks and monitor the situation. Necessary amendment will be requested following checking whether preventive measures are being taken or if the employees are being employed. If there are any injured, details will be sought.
Medical expenses and compensation
The company is responsible for the treatment of the injured worker until he recovers. Compensation should be paid according to the physical disability resulting from the accident. In case of death of the worker, compensation is to be paid to the family members.
Compensation to be calculated
Compensation will be calculated in proportion to the disability of the employee following the accident. If he is totally disabled to work, the same amount paid in case of death shall be paid as compensation.
