Aware of Russia’s backlash, the United States, which had announced that Ukraine had no plans to support long-range rocket systems, decided to support advanced rocket systems capable of precision strikes.

While the type of rocket system provided has not been disclosed, it is unclear whether it will be used only within the territory of Ukraine for its intended purpose.

US President Joe Biden has said he will provide Ukraine with advanced rocket systems and munitions capable of precision strikes.

After making this statement in a New York Times article, President Biden said he will continue to supply advanced weapons, including javelins and anti-tank missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, powerful artillery and precision rocket systems, radar, unmanned aerial vehicles, Mi-17 helicopters and ammunition. .

However, it did not disclose the exact type of advanced rocket system it would provide.

Foreign media pointed out the guided multiple rocket system, GMLRS, with a range of up to 80 km, and the high-speed maneuvering rocket system, HIMARS, a vehicle-type launch pad to be equipped with it.

The range of the GMLRS is regarding twice that of the M777 howitzer recently supported by the US, but it falls short of the tactical missile system the US has.

However, HIMARS has a maximum range of 300 km, and can fire various medium-range rockets by loading a container with six rockets.

A U.S. government official explained that the reason for the support of these weapons was to increase the firepower of the Ukrainian military while avoiding the risk of escalation into Russian territory.

President Biden also said in an article that he had no plans to send a rocket system capable of attacking inside Russia to Ukraine.

Shortly before, President Biden had stated that he had no plans to provide long-range rocket systems to Ukraine.

“(Are we going to send a long-range rocket system to Ukraine?) We will not send a rocket system to Ukraine that can attack Russia.”

Although the US has drawn a line that it is not a target to attack Russian territory, Russia’s backlash is expected as it decides to support various heavy weapons.
