U.S. House of Representatives Responds Domineeringly After Received Chinese Warning Letter After Visiting Taiwan: I don’t care | International

A total of 4 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, including Ro Khanna, visited Taiwan a few days ago and met with President Tsai Ing-wen, Legislative Yuan You Xikun and other dignitaries. Representative Jake Auchincloss, who was traveling with him, tweeted that he received a “warning letter from China” immediately after returning to Taiwan, and he responded domineeringly, “They (China) are very angry, but I don’t care.”

According to Ou Qingjie’s office to the American “Daily Beast” (The Daily Beast), Ou Qingjie received an e-mail warning letter from the Chinese embassy in the United States immediately on the day he returned to the United States on the 24th.

The disclosed letter reads, “It is reported that Congressman Ou Qingjie recently visited Taiwan and met with Tsai Ing-wen, Lai Qingde and other high-level Taiwanese officials. I am writing to express serious concerns on behalf of the Chinese embassy in Washington.” The letter directly referred to him by his real name, and did not mention the “titles of the president and vice president”

The letter also stated, “The one-China principle is part of the post-war international order and has become a general international consensus. Its essence is that there is only one China in the world, and the Taiwan region is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The sole legal government of China, China will not allow Taiwan to secede from China in any form.” Suggesting that U.S. congressmen should not interfere with the Taiwan issue, and expressing concern about congressmen’s unnecessary interference in China’s affairs.

Regarding China’s warning letter, Ou Qingjie responded domineeringly, “They are very angry. I don’t care. We will support freedom and democracy, no matter where it is in the world, in Ukraine, in Taiwan, or on the streets of Tehran .We cannot back down just because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is angry.”

Fellow Congressman Jake Auchincloss tweeted that he received a “warning letter from China” immediately after returning to Taiwan. Auchincloss also responded domineeringly, “They (China) are very angry, but I don’t care.”
