Händl Klaus was able to convince the jury with his radio play “Zrugg”, which the literature commission regards as a light-footed and eloquent piece of linguistic feat, meandering between memory, humor and the abyss.

In February, the piece “Zrugg” was voted “Radio Play of the Year” at the Ö1 radio play gala directed by ORF Tirol culture editor Martin Sailer – more on this in Success for Tyrolean radio play production.

In addition to Händl, Lukas Bärfuss, Andri Beyeler, Kim de l’Horizon, Sarah Elena Müller and Saskia Winkelmann will also receive the award, each worth CHF 10,000 (around EUR 10,200). De l’Horizon, who was successful at both the German and Swiss Book Awards last year with his debut novel “Blutbuch”, was again honored for the play “Hänsel & Greta & The Big Bad Witch”.
