A 34-year-old woman succumbed to her severe injuries in the hospital on Wednesday following a traffic accident involving three vehicles on Pass-Thurn-Straße (B 161) in Jochberg (Kitzbühel district). Her two children, a three-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl, had also been seriously injured in the accident. Two other drivers and a passenger also suffered injuries.
The driver might no longer brake
The woman was unable to stop her car in time and ended up crashing into an oncoming car. A 29-year-old driver had previously had to brake due to traffic, according to the police. The 34-year-old driving behind him was no longer able to brake in time and then steered the car into the oncoming lane to avert a rear-end collision. She crashed into a car driven by a 57-year-old German, it said.
Mother and children were taken to the Salzburg Accident Hospital, the Innsbruck Clinic and the St. Johann in Tirol Hospital. The 57-year-old and her 58-year-old passenger were injured to an undetermined degree and taken to the Zell am See hospital in Pinzgau, the 29-year-old was taken to the St. Johann hospital with minor injuries.
The vehicles were severely damaged or totaled. The Jochberg and Kitzbühel fire brigades, the rescue team including three helicopters and the police were deployed.
