Typhoon No. 17 leaves the Ogasawara Islands and will move to eastern Kanto tomorrow
Central location: about 130 kilometers west-northwest of Chichijima Island
Size class//
Strength level//
Moving North 25 km/h
Central air pressure 998 hPa
Maximum wind speed 20 m/s (near the center)

This afternoon, Typhoon No. 17 approaches the Ogasawara Islands. The maximum instantaneous wind speed observed in Chichijima was 26.0m/s at 12:31. The intensity of the rain was temporary and did not turn into heavy rain. The waves are high and Ogasawara Village has issued a wave warning.
The typhoon will continue to move northward and move away from the Ogasawara Islands during the night. Even if the strong winds and heavy rain subside, you still need to be wary of waves and swells.
Tomorrow, its course is expected to change slightly to the east and continue to move north, crossing the East China Sea from the Kanto region to the Pacific side of the Tohoku region. Its relatively small size and its center are expected to be far away from land, so the area of impact is thought to be narrow. However, in areas such as the southern Izu Islands and Sobo in Chiba Prefecture, precautions should be taken to protect against rain and strong winds. Please be aware of large waves in coastal areas.
Tomorrow 2 is expected to arrive in the waters east of Hokkaido on Wednesday and transform into an extratropical cyclone.

Central location: Strait of Strait

Super Typhoon No. 18 (Kratong) is moving westward through the Bashi Channel. It is crossing an area with higher sea surface temperatures and favorable wind conditions for development, and is expected to develop further. A peak development is expected tomorrow, with the central pressure expected to reach 925 hPa and the maximum wind speed near the center reaching 50 m/s.
Thereafter, it will weaken as it approaches Taiwan, but is expected to gradually turn eastward and approach Okinawa’s Sakishima Islands in the second half of this week. As the typhoon approaches Okinawa, especially the Sakishima Islands, there is a risk of strong winds, heavy rain, and huge waves. The wind will start to blow as early as the day after tomorrow (Wednesday). Please make preparations for typhoon as early as possible, such as storing items that are easily blown away by the wind indoors.
It is expected to continue moving northward after reaching the East China Sea, but its course and intensity are unknown. As the movement of the East China Sea slows down, it is possible that moist air will continue to flow from Okinawa main island into western Japan, leading to increased rainfall, or this may also occur with a front stationary in the East China Sea. Please pay attention to follow-up information.
