Typhoon No. 11 ‘Haikui’ turns more westward than originally expected and is expected to land in China early next week.
There will be no direct impact on Korea, but from the weekend, localized heavy rain will fall in places due to the effects of typhoon water vapor, and swell waves are expected to increase on the coast.
This is reporter Kim Min-kyung’s report.

Three typhoons are heading north in the South Sea.
Typhoon No. 9 ‘Saola’, which is expected to head for the Southern China Sea, and
The 11th typhoon ‘Haikui’, which had different course predictions,
This is the 12th typhoon ‘Geesegi’ that just occurred.
Among them, Typhoon No. 11 ‘Haikui’, which was worried regarding moving north to Korea, was expected to land in China.
This is because it is expected to turn westward due to cold air from the north and the north Pacific high pressure expanding westward.
In addition, the fact that Typhoon No. 9, which has a strong force heading to the vicinity of Hong Kong, pulled Typhoon No. 11 further westward was also a variable.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that Typhoon ‘Haikui’ would gradually weaken following making landfall near Shanghai, China, early next week.
The US and Japan Meteorological Agency are also projecting the same course.
Therefore, Korea is unlikely to be directly affected by typhoons.
However, as the typhoon moves north, waves are expected to rise in the South and West Seas, and swell waves will increase along the coast.
In particular, typhoon steam will flow into the inland and coastal areas, and localized heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds will pour in places.
The Korea Meteorological Administration first predicted heavy rain of up to 200mm on the Yeongnam coast and Jeju Island by the weekend, and up to 150mm on the southern inland.

Localized heavy rains caused by such typhoon vapor are likely to continue until the beginning of next week.
However, Typhoon No. 9 ‘Saola’ is expected to gradually weaken off the southern coast of China, and Typhoon No. 12 Geese will gradually weaken in the southern seas of Japan early next week, so Korea is not expected to be directly affected by the typhoon for the time being.
