The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a level five warning – the highest level – for the typhoon that hit the southern regions of Kyushu, Chugoku and Shikoku, according to the agency.
The agency said the southern prefectures, including Kagoshima, Miyazaki, Oita, Yamaguchi and Kumamoto, were the “most affected” by the typhoon, which disrupted air traffic on Sunday.
Japan Railways Group also said that express train services are expected to be affected on Sunday and Monday, according to the authority.
