Two women are candidates of the judges for the Magistracy

The main lists of judges announced their candidates for the Judicial Council. The election will add a representative to the ranks of the judges so that in April the Council returns to its original composition of twenty members.

For the Bordó list, the national civil judge Agustina Díaz Cordero will appear and for the Celeste list, the national labor judge Viviana Dobarro.

The elections, which will take place on April 7, will have as a particularity the presence of only female candidates, since it was understood that it was necessary that the balance that the Supreme Court intends to restore in the Council also include gender parity. With the current conformation, women are a minority in all the estates that comprise it.

Viviana Dobarro has a long career in labor law, as well as a specialization in Labor Law. She is currently in charge of the National Labor Court 21, where she was appointed in November 2020. She is known for issuing the first ruling that recognized that those who work for digital platforms are not independent workers. The sentence, once morest the transport application Cabify, favored a company driver with compensation for seniority.

For her part, Agustina Díaz Cordero is in charge of the National Civil Court 23 of the City of Buenos Aires. She has specializations in Constitutional Law and several postgraduate studies in Family Law. She coordinated the Federal Council of Justice for Civil Procedure Reform and was a member of the commission in charge of reforming the Civil and Commercial Code in 2018. She is also the daughter of chambermaid Lilia Gómez Alonso.
