Kiev: Two liberated U.S. soldiers are reported missing in Ukraine during a fight once morest Russian troops. Soldiers, their families and the U.S. Congress believe they may have been captured by Russian forces. Alexander Druk (39) and Andy Hinch (27) are missing. Family members say their last call was from Kharkiv, which shares a border with Russia on June 8. During the conversation, the two had made it clear that they would be offline for a few days.
U.S. Congressman Terry Sewell said Druk’s mother came to the office with a complaint because she might not contact her son. U.S. Congressman Robert Atherholt said Hinch’s family had contacted him to indicate he was missing.
Both said the U.S. State Department and the Federal Bureau were investigating their disappearance. The Telegraph was the first newspaper to report the disappearance of U.S. troops. The newspaper reported that the two were captured by Russian troops during the June 9 attack in Kharkiv. U.S. State Department officials said they had examined the report and had contacted U.S. crane officials regarding the soldiers’ disappearance.
If confirmed, he would be the first U.S. soldier to be detained by Russia during the Ukraine war. Both have previously served in the U.S. military.
