Two teachers and two students killed in school shooting in the US – 14-year-old student charged

– Four dead. Another nine have been taken to various hospitals with injuries. The suspect has been arrested and is alive, says the message the state authorities in Georgia have published on Wednesday.

The authorities later report that of the four dead, two of them are teachers and two of them students. The suspect also attends the school.

– The suspect is a 14-year-old student at the school. The suspect is charged with murder and will be brought to court as an adult, says a statement on Wednesday evening.

Furthermore, the authorities write that the accused 14-year-old surrendered to the police and was arrested.

CNN previously reported that as many as 30 people were wounded, but added that it was not clear how many of these had gunshot wounds.

Witness tells

17-year-old Sergio Caldera speaks up ABC News that he was in a chemistry class when he heard shots. He says that the teacher opened the door, and that another teacher ran in and asked her to close the door “because there is an active shooter”.

As students and teachers huddled together in the classroom, someone knocked hard on the door and shouted for it to be opened. When the pounding stopped, Caldera heard several gunshots and screams. He says the class was later evacuated onto the school’s football field.

A spokesperson for the schools in Barrow county says that the situation is now under control and that the students have been sent home.

Helicopters and ambulances

The emergency services were notified of the incident at 10.23 local time and rushed to the school with large resources. Live images from the scene showed, among other things, a number of ambulances outside the school. Medical helicopters were also deployed to evacuate the severely injured, according to US media.

In addition, agents from the FBI’s offices in Atlanta were dispatched to the scene to assist local police.

Harris: Senseless Tragedy

In a statement, the White House writes that President Joe Biden has been notified of the incident. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris calls the shooting a senseless tragedy.

“It’s outrageous that parents in our country have to send their children to school and worry about whether they’re going to come home or not,” Harris said at a campaign rally in New Hampshire on Wednesday.

– We have to stop this. It doesn’t have to be like that, she continued.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has also commented on the shooting. He sends his thoughts to the victims and their relatives.

– These children were taken from us far too soon by a sick monster, writes the former president on his social medium, Truth Social.

Attorney General Merrick Garland calls the school shooting a terrible tragedy.

– I am devastated on behalf of the families affected by this terrible tragedy, he told reporters shortly after Sheriff Jud Smith announced that there were “multiple injuries” and that the suspect had been arrested.
