Danish police state on Saturday afternoon that they have found grounds to expand the charges against the two Swedish boys.
– The two Swedes who are charged with the explosions in Hellerup earlier in the week are also charged this morning with violating section 114 of the Criminal Code, Copenhagen police informs X.
The two teenagers are thus charged under what is referred to as the Danish terror clause, which applies to offenses which are believed to have a terrorist motive.
The two Swedes have previously been charged with possession of five hand grenades and for having thrown two of them onto a balcony near the Israeli embassy in the Danish capital. They have already been remanded in custody for four weeks.
Danish police already said earlier this week that they were investigating a possible terrorist motive for the incident. Prosecutor Søren Harbo has also said that he believes the teenagers did not act alone, although he has not wanted to go into more detail about what he thinks.
Denmark’s intelligence service (PET) has previously said it is also investigating possible links to Iran after the explosions near the Israeli embassy, which are believed to have been caused by hand grenades.
The operational chief of the Swedish security police (Säpo), Fredrik Hällstrøm, has also said he believes both the attack in Copenhagen and a shooting incident outside the Israeli embassy in Stockholm may have links to Iran.
