A number of companies, large groups such as deeptech, are working on the decarbonization of the aeronautics industry. While progress is encouraging, two students, one from ISAE-SUPAERO and the other a Polytech Lille graduate, want to add their stone to the building. Joseph Risson and Paul de Goÿs propose hybridizing two already well-known technologies: the fuel cell and the turboprop. On one side, a hydrogen turbine and an electric motor, powered by a fuel cell, turn the plane’s propeller. On the other hand, the water from this same pile is injected in the form of steam into the turbine and allows for increased power and efficiency.
