Two streams overflowed due to rain in Lara

Two streams overflowed in the parish of Hilario Luna y Luna, in the municipality of Morán in the state of Lara, due to the rains which occurred between August 17 and 18, causing the collapse of a bridge and damage to two homes.

The director of Civil Protection (PC) Lara, Luis Mujica, indicated to the media that the overflow of the Campo Solo and El Salero streams caused structural damage to two houses in the Marilonza community. However, he specified that there are no people affected by this situation.

He also reported the collapse of a bridge that connects the inhabitants of the Campo Solo sector, as a result of the undermining of the foundations of the structure.

According to local media, power lines were also down. The director of PC Lara reported that one person was injured after receiving an electric shock during the rain.

Rains in Portuguesa

Between August 16 and 17, authorities reported the death of one person and several homes affected due to landslides and overflowing streams, following heavy rains in recent days in the Sucre municipality of Portuguesa state.

The victim was identified as Yohana Josefina Godoy Freitez, 38 years old. According to the director of PC Portuguesa, Daniel Márquez, the victim was injured after a wall in a room of her home collapsed due to a landslide.

Godoy was rescued alive by PC officials and the state Fire Department, who transferred her to a nearby hospital, where she died.

Also, according to a report by Union Radio On August 19th, At least 81 people were affected in the town of Biscucuy.

On August 19, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH) reported on its website that cloud cover, generating rain or showers, in some cases with electrical discharges, is expected in several states.
