A pair of unexpected thieves have captured the attention of social media and have gone viral for a curious incident at a luxury hotel in the Riviera Maya. Two spider monkeys, known for their agility and cunning, carried out an unusual ‘robbery’ by stealing bananas from the fruit bar at the buffet of a hotel in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

The video, which quickly spread across platforms like TikTok and X, shows one of the monkeys on the food counter at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort, while his companion waits on the ground, vigilant and ready to escape. Within seconds, the intrepid primate grabs some bananas and, together with his accomplice, walks away with their loot.
