Are we at the beginning of a serious affair in English football? This evening (Tuesday) it was reported in the “Daily Mail” that two footballers (“stars”, according to the report) playing in the Premier League were arrested, outside their home stadium, on suspicion of rape and assault. The local police raided the stadium and arrested the players, both 19 years old.
The first actor was questioned on suspicion of assault and solicitation of rape, he was questioned under caution, following spending a night in custody. The second actor was arrested later that day, and was questioned on suspicion of rape. Both players were released on bail until further notice.
A spokesman for the club where the two players play told The Sun, which published the news first: “The issue is currently in the hands of the police, the club will not comment further – at this stage.”
