At least two Israeli police officers were killed and several people injured in an armed attack by jihadists in the northern Israeli city of Hadera on Sunday evening. According to local police representative Dudu Boani, the Israeli secret service had identified the two attackers as supporters of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia. The attackers were killed by special forces. The terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the “command attack” in a statement.
The attack occurred shortly before the start of an Israeli summit meeting with four Arab states and US participation. The foreign ministers of Egypt, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco meet with their Israeli counterpart Jair Lapid and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in southern Israel today. The representatives of the four Arab countries arrived yesterday and were ceremonially received.
Only on Tuesday four people were killed in a terrorist attack in Beersheva in southern Israel, two men and two women. The assassin, a Bedouin from the Negev desert, was shot dead by passers-by. It was one of the deadliest attacks with Israeli casualties in recent years. In early 2017, a Palestinian drove his truck into a group of young soldiers in Jerusalem, killing four of them.
