With the help of the Civil and Military Police, three addresses received search warrants, where two people were arrested in flagrante delicto in carapicuibametropolitan region of São Paulo, for acting as resellers of a pirated IPTV platform.

The investigation, conducted by public prosecutor Sandra Reimberg, began in August last year and should continue investigating to identify other members of the group, which includes the signal distribution structure and the owners of the bank accounts that receive the amounts charged from users. .

Combating pirated IPTV

Unfortunately, accessing pirated IPTV services is not an isolated issue. According to the Brazilian Pay-TV Association (ABTA), regarding 6 million homes in Brazil use this type of service. This causes an annual loss of BRL 15 billion, affecting thousands of industry professionals.

To combat this criminal practice, Anatel has been working tirelessly. In addition to establishing partnerships, such as Ancine in March this year, the agency launched the Combat Plan for the Use of Clandestine Decodersto block illegal TV Boxes that allow access to restricted subscription content, such as closed TV channels and streaming platforms.
