A French couple experienced an extraordinary theft on Wednesday. After a week’s vacation in Morocco, they were the only passengers on board the Airbus A319 which brought them back to their country, reports Le Progrès.
The aircraft, which has 140 seats, flew 2442 km, lasting just over three hours, with the couple as the only passengers.
They were treated to completely personalized service and a champagne meal.
“We really had the feeling of being privileged. We were treated like VIPs,” claimed the passenger in an interview with Le Progrès.
The couple first saw their initial return flight canceled by Transavia, a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group. The carrier had forgotten to notify them of this cancellation; the two travelers therefore found themselves at the airport without a plane to board.
Air France reacted quickly and set up a special flight for the couple.
While the two travelers were treated to a personalized flight and unparalleled service, some have denounced the environmental bill for this incident. Indeed, according to the Air France carbon calculator, 8960 liters of kerosene were used to bring the couple home. The plane also released 319 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere.
